COFIS Committee : Joint committee for the security sector
The security sector is represented by the COFIS Committee and the CICS, which were formed at the same time in late 2013 pursuant to the recommendations of France’s White Paper on defence and national security.
All public and private stakeholders in the security sector are represented on the COFIS Committee — customers, users, researchers and security solution providers — with a view to working together to make the French security industry stronger.
The initial composition of the COFIS committee was as follows: the Prime Minister; the Ministers of Ecology, Justice, Finance, Defence, Social Affairs, the Interior, Agriculture, and the Economy; the Secretary of State for the Digital Economy; the head of the Public Investments Commission; the interagency directors for economic intelligence and security cooperation; representatives of industry, users and non-state operators; and qualified experts. Players with a direct involvement in specific areas are represented on various COFIS subcommittees.
